"Gringos" will escape the fate of "True Grit," but will doubtless cause used-book store clerks the same consternation as its ![]() Odd instance of "Masters of Atlantis," Science Fiction, which it isn't. His other three novels can be found all over the place, from the shelves of General Fiction to Humor to Classics and even, in the one "True Grit" is most often found hanging out with the westerns, though qualitatively it has little more inĬommon with most westerns than "A Tale of Two Cities" has with bodice-ripper romances. Wandering a used-book store in search of Charles Portis's novels is instructive.
